Chris B. Young $14, B.J. Upton $7, Matt Kemp $6, Josh Fields $6, Fransisco Liriano $6

Some wild names on those lists, huh? I guess we will see the value of keeping a rookie at $6?
I'd like to point out that there are only 46 total players being kept. This is a steep drop-off from our former standard of 84 keepers.
19 Pitchers, 2 Catchers, 5 First Basemen, 1 Second Baseman, 3 SS(But not Reyes?), 5 Third Basemen, and 12 Outfielders.
Half of the lists total out in the high $60's to upper $70's. I'm looking either really smart, or really stupid.
We'll find out in about 10 days. (Site Unknown)

Feel free to mock any of our keepers in the comments section below.

Maybin?

Yes, Maybin, Longoria, Joba, Byrnes,
Fucking Eric Byrnes? Yeah, he'll steal 50 again. Johan at 49? That's almost 20% on a pitcher!!
Madness.

Anybody else think $5 is too steep? I can see why for keepers but $1 pickups shouldn't. Maybe $2 or $3 for rookies and $1 pickups. Anyone else of the same opinion? Lets blog about it.

I agree that it's out of whack and that, rather than adjust it, treat rookies like $44 pitchers; you just don't keep them.

Maybin only Digi's guys inflate at a slower rate. That way Braun would only be $3 like he should be. (notice how I replaced the word maybe with maybin...how awesome?)

First off, awesome site Brodsky. I can reference almost all the pictures except the 4th one in. No idea who that is.

I think $5 is perfect for an increase. If you get a $1 guy who turns into a stud, you can keep 2-3 years until you have to throw him back into the auction which is about what we wanted to accomplish in the first place.

The keeper lists are somewhat strange. I have my reasons for keeping 4 players and some of it has little to do with fantasy baseball (less guys I have to draft and more time for partying at the draft). The amount of starting pitchers kept is going to cause major problems. Will guys like Peavy break the $50 mark? Probably since there are almost no aces left.

Been thinking of a new theory, the David Wright Effect.

Not that the bidding is already going to be ridiculous for him but consider David Wright has been to three SDL championships and has won 2 of them.

Too bad it does not happen in real life.

Brodsky that is a ridiculous response. Why keep anyone? Why not re-draft every year then? Shouldn't we be looking for the next best thing in rookies and cheap players? I agree on not keeping overpriced pitching but rookies? Since you agree it is out of whack why don't we talk about fixing it?

"No idea who that is."

Second best manager in Mets history.

As for rookies; look, there is no way you think $6 is too much for Braun, But you probably are having second thoughts about either Lincecum, or Gallardo, right? Well, there is your answer! If Braun is great, in 3 years it won't matter that you had him for $11 in his third year. It'll still be a steal. Maybe it's great to pick up most $1 players DURING the year, but to keep them is a whole other thing.
Even with NO salary cap, I have a hard time believing that Maybin, and Longoria, and Kemp, etc... would be kept.
People are just getting caught up with "value".
It' strategy, and it's new to all of us, and we will see the results this year.

The David Wright Effect is the like the opposite of the AROD Effect.
Sorry Digi, No Cup for you this year.

I guess I'll bitch about things here rather than the website. I work on Saturdays. It is not easy getting off on Saturdays. I was able to get off at 3 this saturday after being told by Rose he wanted to start the draft as early as possible. So I change my schedule because everyone else wants the special 10 year draft on a saturday and the thanks is a big ol fuck you. I get a lot of that in this league. You won a championship - fuck you you cheated. You have extra picks in the draft - fuck you we are changing formats.

I will get there when I get there. I want to be called before any changes are made to rules or ANYTHING else. If changes are made without me I will quit this league on the spot.

OK enough bitching back to blogging. I really am not having 2nd thoughts about the 2 young pitchers. They both are going for about 10-12 in most auctions. They will help me to a 2nd championship this year and be valuable members of the Parrotheads for years to come. Arod- AL MVP Braun- NL MVP Hamels- CY young

Assuming I don't quit of course

I happen to agree with Digi. We all have known for a while that he won't be available until, what, 4:30, 5:00?

What is the point of starting an auction (or booking a room) 2 hours before an owner arrives?

Also, why is this bar better than that bar?

DanBrodsky said...

Pete, I'll tell you this. Let the pitchers go for crazy money. That's just going to make the medium hitters dirt cheap.
Peavy for $40 = Burrell for $2

Pete said...

This bar over that bar was a debate/argument with Rose trying to choose a draft location. Apparently many people in the league feel that in order to have a successful draft NO OTHER HUMANS can be within 30 feet of us while the draft is going on. So... Jim Bradys where there will no one else within 10 blocks of us.

As far as start times, once we nailed down the saturday and the location, it doesnt really matter. Everyone has made concessions in the past for the draft location and start times. Spending 4 hours in traffic dropping off Zielinksi and Forman last year after the draft was not a picnic for me. Pretty much ruined the entire day.

I understand everyone has made concessions. I have no problem making concessions. I just want to be able to attend the draft on time. That's it.

Unknown said...

My apologies to Dan Digi for calling for a 3:00 start time. Obviously we will not begin the auction until he arrives but I figured if we have the room available for us, why not get together earlier and start the festivities earlier.

And if another owner threatens to quit the league over nonsene like this I'm gonna quit.

Are you possibly comparing this to our adventures with Ween, Omar, and sandwiches in Brooklyn a couple of years ago? If I remember correctly, you are still on your way back from getting cigarettes.

Touche Brodsky.

That was so awful even the drunk people realized how awful it was.
